Prof. Wei Xiao, Dr. Jing Wang, and Dr. Yuhao Peng from the Lab of Electrochemical Metallurgy (LEM) have been honored with the 2023 Best Paper Award by Science China Chemistry, one of China’s most authoritative academic journals.Their groundbreaking paper, entitled "Photocatalytic Nonoxidative Coupling of Methane to Ethylene over Carbon-Doped ZnO/Au Catalysts" was published in Volume 66 of the journal in 2023. 

This award recognizes exceptional innovation and scientific rigor in the field of materials chemistry and energy catalysis. The study presents a novel catalytic system for converting methane—a challenging greenhouse gas—into ethylene, a critical industrial feedstock, using light-driven processes. The work highlights LEM’s continued leadership in sustainable energy and catalytic material design.
